Peregrine Falcon Habitat

Below, Will pointing out the Peregrine Falcon's range and habitat to his friend Dr. Jay Vavra who took the photo. On a clear winter day from 300 feet up on the bluff tops you can easily see San Clemente Island 56 miles out to sea and Dana Point 70 miles up the coast. It is not unusual for the Peregrines (who have extraordinary binocular vision) to fly out a mile or more over the Pacific Ocean to "stoop" on passing birds and than bring their prey back to bluffs to consume or feed to their young.

Below more photos of the Peregrine habitat showing the coastal bluffs during minus tides while the sun was beginning to set.
